Dear Readers:
June just flipped by like a cheap thriller! I guess it was an "airplane read" of a month. We were incredibly busy and barely had caught our breath when we opened the new store on July 1.
We had a massive Harry Potter party on the night before Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix released. Thanks to every child who came, to all the parents who helped and left their children in our care and a huge, huge, huge THANK YOU to Peter and Nancy Strohmeyer for allowing THE ARCADIA COFFEE CO. to become the Hogwarts Hall for one night.
On July 1 we opened the new NEW bookstore (as the Lawton family has been heard to be saying in reply to "where's Dad? ... at the old store (19E. Putnam Ave.), the new store (28 Arcadia Road, Old Greenwich) or the new NEW store (11E. Putnam Ave.)?" We were very busy painting and assembling shelves in time for opening day. Huge thank yous to TUCKER SERENBETZ, ELLIA BISKER, ERIKA DETJEN, STEVEN SMITH, LINNEA RICHARDS, SUZANNE CARROLL, KATHERINE MISTRETTA, ISABELLE SCHLESS, THOMAS LAWTON, NICHOLAS LAWTON, GREENWICH PHOTO, THREADS AND TREADS and MAIL BOXES, ETC. for all of your help, energy, enthusiasm in getting us from the "old" to the "new NEW" store. Not enough thanks can go to THOMAS LAWTON, "the Dad," for tireless hours and energy and we would be remiss if we did not thank our customers for their patience and support as we moved! THANK YOU ALL!
JULY 12 is going to be our grand opening party - we promise fun for all and a special signing by local Greenwich Aux Delices proprietress Debra Ponzek, who is out with her newest and luscious cookbook, THE SUMMER HOUSE COOKBOOK and a re-visit by the lovely Rachel Franco and Maureen Blum signing GREENWICH: BEACHES TO BACKCOUNTRY. Bring your already-bought copy or buy a new one!
We hope you like the new location - truly a stone's throw from the "old store" and complete with our special back door and dark-toned walls ... a little more shelf space and a little more elbow room. We'd love to say more but we're still panting from all the painting and book shelving!
